Mac Studio M1 Max, Monterey 12.7.2. Two external screens are connected. The main screen uses a 240hz Acer Gsync module gaming display, linked through DisplayPort and an USB C adapter. (Problems continue even with HDMI too). I’m experiencing issues that don’t show clearly but occur when the monitor settings in system or display mode are set to Variable refresh rate (1Hz–240Hz). Switching to a fixed 240Hz works to resolve everything. The only challenge is that whenever the monitor powers on—whether it’s starting up for the first time or waking from sleep after being turned off—it always reverts back to the default Variable mode instead of keeping the fixed rate I set. There’s no built-in feature to remember these preferences automatically or a third-party tool that locks the setting each time it wakes. I’ve tried SwitchResX, but it still switches back to Variable on both system and SwitchResX settings. A shortcut was created for SwitchResX to apply changes instantly, though I still have to manually trigger it each time. The monitor sometimes stays in Variable mode after a boot or sleep cycle, which is frustrating. I’m looking for a permanent solution that remembers the configuration without requiring constant manual adjustments. I suspect compatibility issues between M1 and this particular monitor are at play, as my other brand monitor works fine. Any workaround that can automatically lock the settings and prevent the default behavior would be ideal.
