Ensure your 990x reaches a stable 4.6GHz on Sabertooth X58
Ensure your 990x reaches a stable 4.6GHz on Sabertooth X58
I'm stable at 4.4GHz but struggling to reach 4.6GHz. If I can't hit 4.6, I'll just get ZEN when it launches, but if I manage it, I won't waste money.
CPU: 990x
KULR: Corsair H100i V2
MB: Sabertooth x58
RAM: 24GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
GPU: 2 x R9 290
Any advice on voltages and where to set them? Which MB features should I turn off or enable? Thanks a million.

I think Zen isn't really an upgrade, more likely a side move or just a minor improvement. The 4.4 speed on that chip isn't enough for everyone, and you're right about the 5% increase being less than 1%. I'd be crazy if I didn't feel better seeing that extra 200MHz. It also seems Zen matches Broadwell-E in clock speed, but we should wait to see how much overclocking room we have.
I'd remain doubtful about a single leaked test that clearly aimed at promoting the processor being highlighted. It would be great if they returned to the competition. Just don't let 3ghz become the absolute top speed.
Sorry, but I can't provide the exact FX CPU model you have, Horatio. Please confirm the details you mentioned.
Sure, I understand everything related to OC. Intel might be able to guide you on how to reach 4.6Ghz, offering some suggestions and advice.
Horatio.
Sorry, I couldn't assist.
