I play a lot of a pc game called halo infinite, but it's not important. The next day when I turn on my computer, "gameinputhost service" is still consuming around 40-50% of the RAM in memory. The whole PC runs 20°C hotter than normal when not gaming until I close the task manager. Then the RAM returns to normal idle levels, and the GPU enters power-saving mode since nothing is running. Does anyone know what's happening and why this occurs? Shouldn't it be unnecessary? It seems like something in the NVIDIA control panel or even the Xbox app might be causing this issue. I'm not sure where to disable it in the startup tab of task manager, as the service appears to be unnecessary and a bit suspicious.

I looked into where to find the installer for the game, what operating system I'm using, and whether any game controller is involved. Please review the provided link.

It's actually a Microsoft Play Store title for Windows 11, starting directly from there. Yeah, I use a wired Xbox controller. I don't understand why it requires me to keep hosting after shutting it down for the day, and even more so the next day when I restart my laptop.

Observed:
"I don't understand why I'm required to keep running after shutting down the game for the day... and even more so the next day when I restart my laptop."
Check Task Manager under Startup and Task Scheduler. The latter might be initiating another process.
It's possible that one or both are launching background processes that continue after the game ends and/or the controller software starts.
You can also try Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) to find and identify any unexpected running processes.
This could be a buggy or corrupted process that doesn't stop when it should. Or it might be left running for reasons that aren't clear yet. Or possibly due to poor coding.
Once a likely suspect is found, attention turns to disabling that process.

Avoid immediately shutting down, disabling, or uninstalling anything until further information is gathered.
And remember, always back up important data at least twice, storing it in separate locations away from the computer/laptop.
Make sure the backups are both recoverable and readable.

the whole process tree in task manager was disabled, using around 400k mb of memory. After running a Windows Defender scan for viruses, it restarted and performed better. Thanks!
