hello all, this is essentially an S.O.S. because ive hit a wall. im trying to setup a shared folder on a secondary drive in ubuntu that i can access on windows 10. (this is practice for when i do the same thing later but with a RAID setup) ive shared the intended folder, and i can see it from windows 10, but when i go to access it, i get a 'windows cannot access' error, which says i dont have permission to do so. where im stuck is on which end i dont have the permission. i think ive set all the needed permissions on the ubuntu side, and im the only used of the windows 10 machine. ive been stuck on this for the past few hours, and made little progress. i really need help. thanks.

I should have noted that section. It seems I’ve been working with SMB, but I kept getting into Samba issues.

that seems to be one of the first sticking points. when i try doing the new password steps, i get 'failed to add new entry for user (user im attempting to set up)'. im using the same user name as on my windows machine, to make sure that not an issue.

I checked the two sources you mentioned and attempted to follow them. I agree, using sudo helped.
