I purchased my basic computer from school with an old 2.6 dual-core CPU, 8 GB RAM, and a Windows 8.1 Enterprise copy on the hard drive. However, I discovered the Enterprise version can't get the Windows 10 update. What did I do? I bought Windows 8.1 Pro instead. When trying to install it, I was shown only two choices: "Keep personal files only" or "Nothing." Can I still keep everything on my drives? Will the drivers move to the "Keep personal files" folder and keep my second drive safe? I'm really sorry—I don’t understand operating systems well.

You can remove additional drives to be safe, but the "Keep personal files only" setting will protect your files.

It’s unlikely you can upgrade directly to Windows 8 Pro from Enterprise. The best approach would likely involve saving your current applications and installing them once the OS is fully set up.
