Enough fans to overclock?
Enough fans to overclock?
I'm preparing my PC soon and planning to boost its performance, with an Intel Core i5-7600K cooled by the Cryorig H7, an MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Gaming 8G (including two MSI TORX 2.0 fans) and two case fans from the NZXT S340 Elite. I still have space for two additional fans and the H7 has extra brackets for another one. I'm checking if this setup is sufficient for overclocking or if I need to add more fans.
The number of fans isn't the main issue. A high-quality intake fan can easily surpass the airflow of several lower-quality fans in a single case. Generally, the H7 in the S340 is adequate for some overclocking attempts. I suggest beginning with your plan—if airflow feels insufficient or temperatures rise more than expected, you can try adding more fans or swapping the original ones for better models. From my observations, including an extra fan to the H7 doesn't significantly reduce temperatures, usually just a few degrees at most.
