You’re looking to improve the Wi-Fi range by adding a Cat6 Ethernet connection. Since your current extender only has one Ethernet port, you’ll need a router or switch with multiple ports to handle both the wireless and wired connections. Consider getting a dual-port router or a switch that supports Gigabit Ethernet for better performance and flexibility.

Link the Ethernet cable from your router to an Ethernet switch in another building, and then attach a wireless access point along with your PC.

a. Transfer to a different router, configuring it as an access point.
b. Connect to an Ethernet hub (unmanaged switch) linking to the TPLink Extender and any additional devices you wish to connect directly.

Hi there, I have the same configuration. A main house with several bedrooms, a kitchen and living space plus a separate annex featuring a bedroom and bathroom. I installed a single Cat6 cable from the main router to the annex, and inside the annex I have a small 6-port switch that connects my SkyQ mini box, Smart TV, and Amazon Eero Wi-Fi extender. Generally, I prefer wired connections rather than wireless, so I’ve run Cat6 throughout every room unless it’s for a phone, laptop, or IoT device. This setup was made easier by the recent renovation of the whole property. Just remember, avoid wiring networks between buildings on different power supplies—unless they’re connected via the same mains supply.
