I just acquired a fresh monitor and need to increase the frame rate further. Right now I have an i9-9900k RTX 2080 SUPER with 32GB DDR4 RAM and a Corsair 750 PSU, running esports games at 360Hz. For my new setup I require 500Hz, while Valorant, Overwatch, Rocket League, and some modded zombie games are available. I’m heading to my local microcenter to pick up a bundle; I won’t be updating my GPU until Black Friday, and I’ll swap the PSU then. Below I’ll add the links I found—it’s a big price difference with the i9-13900k if it’s the best option. I’m leaning toward Ryzen, but these are all within my budget and I hope to get a 3080 or 4090 if deals come through this holiday.
In TPU's 720p benches, the slowest shooters were 13900K, 13700K, 7900X, and 12900K. I believe top-end clocks and RAM speed also matter there. The X3D cache could outperform these CPUs in esports. At those prices, I’d pick the 13700K for $450, as the 13900K is almost double ($800) and the 7900X doesn’t offer better performance than the 13700K.
I believe the top option would be a 7800X3D, unfortunately no bundle available... I’d choose the 13700K, it’s quite similar to a 12900K and a bit better, and the offer is great. Maybe you’ll lose 10 frames out of 400 in a game versus a 13900K, but honestly it doesn’t matter much.
I haven't paid much attention to price updates or new releases; it's just how I've managed to reduce hardware spending. The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, MSI B650-P Pro WiFi DDR5, G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit, and the Computer Build Bundle - Micro Center are all part of my current setup.
It's a fair offer, possibly around $100 off. His price for the 13,700k is $250 or more off, which looks very attractive!
