Enhancing my 9900K device
Upgrading your i9 9900K to a 7800X3D or the new 9th gen Ryzen could enhance your gaming experience. With an RTX 3080 and a 1440p 185Hz display, you're set for smooth single-player AAA titles. The performance boosts from the new CPU and GPU will likely make games run faster and more responsively. Let me know if you need more details!
I boosted my CPU to 5.1ghz and got a 9900k overclocked. I upgraded to an RTX 4080 and faced frequent stutters at 1% and 0.1% during high frame rates, especially in games like Tiny Tina's Wonderland, Hell Let Loose, Metro Exodus and Dying Light 2. Switching to a Ryzen 7700x helped my average frame rate improve, and the stutter issues dropped noticeably. As a gamer, it was definitely worth it. The 7800X3D should offer a solid boost in those same areas.
I shared my journey with these systems. Switching from the 9900k to a 4080 was really tough. Moving from 9900k to a 7700x felt like the best decision I made in about 25 years. If you love the 9900k, keep it—especially if you're using a mid-range GPU. It's still a solid CPU, though technically it's a 6700k with more cores. But if you own a high-end GPU, based on my experience, you should swap it soon.
Absolutely, I agree on the enhanced performance after the CPU upgrade. The smoothness significantly improved from 3,120 to 5,560, with stutters becoming much less frequent. Of course, there are other positive changes too.
Absolutely, that's a significant upgrade! It's interesting how the 9900k came out just a year after the Ryzen 1000 line, sharing the same 14nm process as the 6700k from 2015. Tiny Tina's Wonderland didn't perform well with the 9900k+4080, suffering from noticeable stutter. The 7700x really shines, especially at 1440p and ultra settings.
It might offer a 50% improvement in specific titles when CPU is limited. 7800x3d for $260 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/s?k=7800x3d&crid=..._sb_noss_1
