You're looking to upgrade your Wi-Fi setup for better performance and coverage. The current router is near a microwave and has limited reach. You want to expand the signal without spending much money or rushing for ultra-fast speeds. Consider routers with decent range and good coverage, possibly using a mesh system if needed. If budget allows, investing in a few additional routers can help fill gaps.

I don't have access to that information. Please check your router's settings or documentation for the model details.

Can't verify the precise model at the moment, but I recall it's an older D-Link single antenna from around 2008 (the final firmware release). It tends to lose signal unexpectedly or restart up to twice per minute.

What is your budget? The access point/repeater isn't that costly if you're comfortable with an older model; this isn't a 2008 era where network equipment is so pricey. Check out this link: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wi-Fi-Ran...B00E98O7GC. Run it in access point mode since you're planning to replace the older one. And if you can't even afford it, it seems like your Wi-Fi situation is really tough.

My budget is around fifty-five dollars, but I got nervous after reading many reviews that praised 2Gb quad band routers.

I believe a budget router will offer notable benefits. Have you reached out to your ISP about switching to a new Wi-Fi router? I upgraded mine for free and it performs much better than my previous model, featuring 802.11AC and Gigabit ports.

I only suggest choosing a dual-band router, though your budget might be a challenge. Microwaves can disrupt the 2.4 GHz frequency when active. Consider checking out TP Link.

In the final result I received a simple dual-band Asus device along with a repeater, everything functions properly.

Check speed without the repeater too, as they tend to waste more time by repeating the same signal on the same frequency.

Router performance is within limits, repeater capacity is sufficient, PC Wi-Fi supports up to 100 Mb/s, ISP connection offers 4 Mb/s. Overall, you should be fine.
