Hello everyone! I recently assembled a new PC, about three to four weeks prior; for both the motherboard and RAM, I checked QVL lists on the manufacturers' sites to ensure compatibility. Both options seemed suitable—sometimes a RAM package would be listed under ASUS instead of the brand's own, and vice versa. The compatible kits are:
- 1 pair of Kingston Fury Beast 2*32GiB DDR5@5200MT/s (KF552C36BBEK2-32) in slots 2 and 4, as described in the manual
- ASUS Prime X670E-Pro WiFi with the latest firmware, featuring 4 "QLEDs": RAM (yellow LED), CPU (red LED), VGA (white LED), and boot (green LED)
I don’t restart the system too often—Windows Update prompts usually appear only occasionally, sometimes less than once a week. The correct startup order is a quick LED sequence: RAM-CPU-VGA-BOOT-OFF. Once the PC powers on, the Asus interstitial screen appears, along with status LEDs on the keyboard.
Occasionally, when I restart or turn it on, the system hangs briefly. If it stays stuck, I’ll either press the reset button on the front panel or gently press the power button for about four seconds. In most cases, this gets the computer running again, though sometimes the BIOS resets everything to defaults. I suspect the BIOS settings are set by default, and I won’t change them right away (though I’ll adjust QFAN later).
I’ve noticed that the RAM sometimes reverts to 4800MHz, possibly due to a faulty boot, even though it was advertised as 5200MT/s. The motherboard manual confirms 5200MT is a valid, non-overclocked speed.
Additionally, I recently experienced a poor startup where the system only showed 32GiB RAM and only one slot was used. After panicking, I rebooted and forced a cold restart. Now I have two slots filled with 64GiB total RAM. Could this be related? I’m also unsure how many times I’ve reset the PC to half-RAM mode. Any advice would be appreciated—should I claim warranty for the RAM, motherboard, or both? And should I re-seat the RAM?
The seat could be faulty. Are you using a CPU cooler and could there be issues with its mounting? Also, is fast boot enabled in Windows? How did you set up the 5200 speed? According to Kingston's datasheet, EXPO Profile #1 needs 1.25v to function, so it seems the voltage isn't correct if you're changing the frequency manually.
Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360mm isn't positioned near the modules. Boot time is slow. Hmm, I don't think I changed it myself, and I'm guessing it won't happen automatically.
When using the EXPO profile, adjustments will update automatically. Modifying just the frequency won't cause changes.
I just tried it and it looks promising, though results might take a while (may be delayed later). Using EXPO Profile #1 required 5200MT, while setting VDD and VDDQ to 1.25V and PMIC Voltages to "Sync All PMICs" worked. I’ll mark this as solved and update the post with additional details. Thanks!
I was using version v2613 on 2024/04/17 until recently; after reviewing your message, I found an updated version (v3014, 2024/07/23). I restarted into the BIOS and applied the changes. Several challenging reboots followed, but now Windows runs smoothly with minimal problems. The BIOS re-activated EXPO #1, likely due to a reset from the update.
