I mentioned to others that my memory from school isn’t great, so I’d need to chat with my friend who remembers everything on Discord within about two hours.

Occasionally, certain laptops prevent booting from an SD card, such as the HP DV6 model.

I've used Linux recovery on an SD card before. Booting works, though it's quite slow. This was with a desktop setup, giving full BIOS control. @Lowbuget Do you have access to the laptop's boot options or BIOS? If you can't boot from the SD card, it likely means you also can't boot from USB.

Sure, I can navigate the boot sequence (including the OS manager) and see if installing Linux works from the SD card is possible.

When checking boot settings, the card appears. Even with a standard external storage device, it might not function properly. This suggests an issue during the installation process.

Consider using Rufus once more if needed, or try a different application instead.

Rufus performs well; the picture might be the reason too. Let's start fresh with a new take.

Sure, I'll take care of it now and handle the rest later when I'm back.

It's tough to get started since your Windows updates are consuming the entire C drive.
