I just set up a new HTPC but it won’t let me play .m4v files. These are old iTunes purchases I bought long ago, and now I want to enjoy them on my new PC. Do I have to reinstall iTunes? Also, VLC and Windows Media Player were having issues with this. Help would be appreciated! Thanks ahead.

VLC should work fine. Consider installing the K-Lite Codec pack for Windows Media Player.

The easiest method is to download the codecs. Use the Google K-Lite codec pack and install everything, which will let you play any video or audio without issues.

I'm sorry you had that experience. It seems the link wasn't fully working even after installation. After updating, the files might still be loading slowly. Try restarting your computer—it could resolve the issue.
