You've noticed some packet loss while gaming, and your ISP suggested checking if you're on their gamer pack. They mentioned it could improve performance by giving priority routing and allowing port forwarding—features not available on your current plan. This advice seems legitimate since the gamer pack is designed to reduce latency and packet loss for gamers.

They're pushing a pricier option. Which ISP are you using? What service do you have? Which tech do you use—FTTN, FTTP, FTTC, HFC, ADSL, ADSL2, satellite, 3G/4G? How is your router connected—WiFi or Ethernet? Do you consistently experience packet loss, or does it happen only during certain games?

Yeah I figured... I'm with MyRepublic. I must say though, they did say they would waive the fee if no improvements were made. I'm on Fixed Wireless, but I still get 30ish ping and 40 down 20 up. I can't tell if its only in one game or not, cause I only play the one game. It does seem to occur more throughout peak hour which sucks. If there's a way to test it further, please tell me. (See above) My network setup is just a router/modem combo from the ISP. I do have an Ethernet cord going from the router, up the roof and into my computer.

Upset, I realized I missed something. Fixed Wireless can experience packet loss even with fast upload and download speeds. It’s just how wireless connections work—maybe traffic on the tower is causing problems or making things worse. The simplest fix would be to check a website for packet loss using a ping command. Run > cmd ping google.com.au -n 30 What game is it? Where are the servers you’re connecting to?

When in doubt, connect directly.

You completed the test and encountered a poor ping, though no packet loss was detected. You plan to retry tonight. The servers are in Sydney, and it seems the issue is with the tower congestion. It’s frustrating, but at least you’re not stuck with DSL speeds anymore. Appreciate the support!

For their internet connection? I’m not sure it’s available. If they’re using Fixed Wireless NBN, it suggests they might not have a wired link in their area. It seems Australia’s internet setup is a bit confusing. Just accept it. He said he’s already connecting via Ethernet to the router—try that again during busy times when you usually face slowdowns and see what happens. You can tweak the packet count by changing the “30” value to whatever suits you. Fortnite servers should be in Sydney, so that shouldn’t pose a problem. Sadly, there’s probably nothing you can change about it.
