Encountered issue with hotspot remaining stuck on 'Disconnecting' and 'Applying Settings'.
The mobile hotspot in Win won't turn on quickly as it displays 'disconnecting.' When setting it up from the menu, it stays locked on 'Applying Settings.' Previously functional, this issue appears widespread yet no fixes have worked. Reinstalling Win 10 seems like the only viable path. I've tried several steps: restarting, switching accounts, disabling and re-enabling the adapter, enabling sharing in Ethernet settings (though the sharing tab isn't available), and manually activating it via CMD which reports a failure message. Firewall settings were adjusted, confirming the adapter supports hotspot functionality before.
Maybe link it to a network and switch back to hotspot mode? If you have a compatible phone, set up a hotspot there and connect your PC to it. This might help get it out of whatever issue it's in. Once done, you can disconnect and retry configuring the hotspot on your PC.
The internet works well on the laptop since the Ethernet cable is connected.
Your internet connection seems normal, but it’s unclear how that relates to your hotspot issue. I recommend exploring a different Wi-Fi mode to reset it from its current cycle.
I see, I connected it to your home WiFi. It works there but doesn<|pad|> to not function for the hotspot.
Assuming win 10, click start and choose Apps & Features. Remove any network card driver packages (like Intel, Broadcom, Realtek) if present. Click start again, go to computer management, then device manager. Expand Network adapters, right-click your adapter and select uninstall. Restart Windows, reinstall the driver if needed. Usually I skip this with networks.
