Starting with my setup: Rx 6750, xt-ryzen 5, 3600-16 GB RAM, single stick. Msi 650w PSU, BIOS updated. I refreshed Windows 10 a few days back, so it shouldn’t be infected. All drivers are current except audio ones. XMP is enabled. Memory check tool showed no problems. Issue: When I set high settings in Cod MODE and Witcher 3 while multiple tabs run, the game freezes and closes. In Cod, RAM/Vram usage spiked to 11.2 GB while RAM was at 12 GB. I added the RAM section from Hwinfo to the images. Photo taken after closing the game. Here’s the transcript of the event log. Couldn’t translate it to English. System Info: Microsoft detected resource exhaustion. Task: Possible due to heavy background usage. Programs involved: cod.exe (300), steamwebhelper.exe (5788), steamwebhelper.exe (13788). Event details: The system logged a high usage spike, with processes consuming large memory. No malware detected overall.

Image of the RAM module from Hwinfo displayed in-game after adjusting the page file settings from system-controlled to minimum 24.576 MB to maximum 49.152 MB.

This affects your frame rate and slows the processor, since it was designed for two sticks. I don’t know the exact settings you’re using, but the game shouldn’t use virtual memory unless you changed something. I’d lower that one’s size, or it will wear out your SSD quickly. The page file should stay under 1.5 times the physical memory. Running a browser in the background also hurts performance, especially with videos, as it drains GPU power.

I'm using maximum settings, but I'm not sure my system needs that much virtual memory. Any advice would be great.

Close the task manager and review which processes are consuming memory.

Only the game and Mozilla are utilizing it. Before the crash, RAM usage was 12 and GPU VRAM at 11.

Is the 30 GB virtual memory allocation normal? Could you assist in diagnosing this problem?

That’s quite a lot of memory usage. What happens when the browser is closed? Are there any background mods or streaming going on? I haven’t noticed the game consuming that much RAM unless there was a problem with the system or low memory. Please share a screenshot of Task Manager showing the memory load. The game did have some memory problems before, so it’s possible this is recurring. Do you know anyone else who plays with the same issue?

On Linux it's similar to riding a Lambo through the middle of Brooklyn. If you haven't experienced it, try reducing the page file to make Windows use its classic RAM compression method, which is more efficient for memory but uses more CPU power. I usually set mine to 4096-4096 on a 16GB system.

They did the bare minimum for $0. I should have noted that everyone was in favor of choosing a dual channel kit instead.
