Encounter issues with GTA 5 and Windows 10, experiencing crashes or severe slowdowns.
Uncertain if it's the drivers or the system version. Eventually, running GTA 5 in full screen causes my computer to freeze completely. The screen displays long horizontal lines and a random light color—mostly dark-tinted light blue. I'm using SCP DS3 Drivers. I considered motioninjoy/better ds3 mix, but it stopped working on Windows 10. It seems the drivers run all day, suggesting either GTA isn't compatible with W10 or something related to DualShock vibrations. Another thought is my GPU overheating due to excessive VRAM usage when playing at maximum settings, which exceeds the card's capacity (2GB).
Win10 and GTA V both face problems, but the main fault lies with Win10 rather than GTA V for broken default drivers.
Back in Windows 7 it wasn't done that way, but I only began using the full version recently after switching to Windows 10. I think getting the 7950 will solve the issue.
Just about to share a similar problem I've faced. I haven't played GTA 5 in a while and recently switched to Windows 10. Last night I tried to play and it froze/locked my PC three times in a row. Each incident lasted only 5-15 minutes, and my hardware stats looked normal on the second screen. Specs are listed. It's not a VRAM issue. My R9 290 with 4GB RAM used less than 3GB while running at high settings (1440p). Still experienced crashes/freezes despite being fine otherwise. This seems to be a Windows 10 compatibility problem, possibly affecting drivers or the game itself. Many users on Rockstar forums have reported the same. It appears we're not alone. One suggested solution was uninstalling and re-downloading the Social Club program, which some found helpful. I'll try that tonight and update you on the outcome.
