I possess a leftover Win7 Home Premium key and recently purchased a 128GB USB 3.0 card. I attempted to install Windows onto it last night. The ISO was mounted, but when I tried to boot into Windows to complete the setup, it reported no drivers and refused to finish. This is my initial effort at creating a bootable USB, so I'm unsure what steps to take next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: This applies to Windows 7 only.

This version is for Windows 7 or Windows 10. The ISO comes from a trusted source, and I generated it using standard tools.

It's a Windows 7 Home Premium license key you wish to convert into a portable operating system for repairing multiple devices. If you can upgrade it to Windows 10, that would be ideal. You don't recall the exact source website, but it came from a guide you were following and was installed via Power ISO on a USB drive.

It seems the USB 3.0 might not be compatible with your system. Check if your motherboard supports it.

I'm not aiming to put it onto my computer via the USB, I'm looking to add it directly to the drive so I can use a portable OS when troubleshooting faulty machines. It's Windows 7, not Windows 10. The original post didn't mention switching to Windows 10...

The forum likely experienced a slow refresh or my internet connection was unreliable. I had already changed the title, but it didn’t update immediately. I’ll try again tonight, though I’m unsure it will solve the problem. I followed Microsoft’s steps to mount the ISO. Booting from USB works and the installer launches normally, but it reports missing drivers. I need drivers for Windows, which is what I’m trying to resolve.

Just realized you can use your Win7 key to activate Win10, so go ahead and install Win10 instead of upgrading later. Use this ISO (or any one you feel like honestly) and make it into a mountable USB drive using Rufus . Not sure if your method will work the same way.
