Hi, I just began playing AC Valhalla and my PC started freezing randomly, then recovered after a crash. After updating to version 572.65 it stopped showing the black screen issue from Windows logo. DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSODs appeared, which Microsoft Community helped identify as likely related to an NVIDIA driver problem. I changed drivers to different versions (572.16, 560.34, 566.36, 572.65) and used DDU in safe mode to uninstall and downgrade them. To be honest, I’m unsure how to resolve this. Previously, I played Spider-Man 2 at maximum settings without issues, but Valhalla seems unstable. I was adjusting FSR and HDR options both in-game and on Windows, which might have contributed to the crashes—especially during long gaming sessions (around 6-8 hours) when the latest BSOD occurred near 2 or 3 hours into the game. I also noticed the NVIDIA OpenGL driver logs mention low memory usage. I’m not sure if that’s connected but recently updated my BIOS to version 3.16 from 3.10 and enabled only the EXPO RAM profile. My temperatures during max settings at 2K are around CPU 60-66°C and GPU 68-73°C. If you need, share any files and let me know more details. If you haven’t verified your RAM, attempt to boot and test using just one stick per slot. Also experiment with EXPO disabled.
Using DPC_Watchdog_Violation isn't always possible since minidumps lack necessary data. We'll try anyway. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump and verify presence of any minidump files. If found, return to the Windows directory and transfer the entire Minidump folder to your Downloads folder (desktop works if OneDrive isn't syncing). Compress the copied folder and include it in a post. Please adhere strictly to instructions as Windows doesn't permit modifications in this area.
