So last week I upgraded my PC and a few days ago it started having errors when trying to hard boot. It keeps showing memory issues, sometimes it works and sometimes it fails, and there’s no way to access BIOS. After bringing it to the service center, after replacing the CPU everything seems normal again. How can I prevent something like this from happening again? Because even though I didn’t change anything in the BIOS settings, my BIOS now has EXPO enabled since the PC upgrade last week. When I searched online, I found information about IMC CPUs, but I’m not sure what it means or if it’s related. My current specs are:

CPU: Ryzen 5 7500f
Motherboard: MSI B650 Tomahawk
RAM: G.Skill Trident Neo RGB DDR5 32GB F5-6000
Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360
GPU: RTX 4060
Power Supply: Superflower Leadex III 850W
Case: Meshify 2

After replacing the CPU, I’m worried about activating the EXPO profile and want to check if it improves stability in the long run.

IMC stands for Internal Memory Controller, unlike earlier CPUs where the memory controller was part of the chipset, modern CPUs integrate it within the CPU package. Ryzen uses a separate chiplet in the CPU package that handles memory control. Your original CPU might have contained a faulty one due to a factory defect—this does occur occasionally, as perfection isn't guaranteed.

The 7500F model is generally unsuitable for the 7600x, which barely meets specifications, so errors are not surprising. EXPO and XMP are BIOS instructions that allow RAM to be optimized for faster performance, effectively overclocking. Overclocking demands a higher voltage from the IMC; setting it too high can harm the component.

Avoid enabling EXPO/XMP unless you manually set it, and keep your RAM running at its base speed (typically 2133MHz). Ensure your BIOS is up to date and that the RAM voltage stays within the manufacturer's limits—usually up to 1.35V for standard memory and up to 1.1V for controller.

Yeah, last week I asked the tech to turn on Expo after upgrading my PC, thinking it was safe for the long term. Now it’s happening again and I’m worried about turning it back on. For the BIOS yesterday after replacing the CPU, the tech updated it but it’s still in beta version. Is that secure enough for regular use or gaming?

This update enhances memory compatibility and resolves system freezes following the use of particular RAM and M-FLASH installation.

That update was applied last week during the PC upgrades, so I'll check it out right away. If the beta BIOS is unstable, I might consider downgrading later.
