Emulation
Emulation
I continue using my old consoles like the SNES, N64, PS2, etc., but without a CRT screen, I’m compelled to connect them to a 1080p HD TV. They don’t display correctly. I thought about creating an HTPC solution, but it’s mainly for emulation purposes. I have some doubts: will the visuals just match what you see on the console, or will upscaling and digital rendering improve the quality? Also, how does video output actually work? My goal is to make these games look sharp on my HDTV while keeping storage simple—just one emulation machine and several USB controllers.
It would seem almost identical. It would also be more affordable or even available for free (on Craigslist) for a CRT.
You might use a Raspberry Pi to host emulators, it works well for SNES and N64 games from that era, and it's suitable for older consoles too.
many guides are available online about configuring it for emulation, and it’s only $35, significantly less than an HTPC.
Sure, I'd enjoy playing many PS2 and Wii titles. The Pi just isn't strong enough for those kinds of games.
