It could be an unsuitable place to share this, but what's going on? I use both iPhone and Windows and was trying to set up iMessage on my desktop. Reading didn’t help much—I ended up using emulation. PiaDroid doesn’t look reliable, and running a VM seems like a big effort. Any ideas or suggestions would be great. If I find a solution, I’ll update the post. Thanks!
Use a Mac with its operating system or move to Android. The issue is that Apple restricts this outside its ecosystem. These iPhone apps find work around it. On Android you can use an app that connects via Bluetooth to sync notifications, lets you reply from any app, including text messages. This built-in Windows 10 app is called Your Phone.
I understand this better now after further investigation. It’s been an ongoing struggle between my dislike of Apple’s closed environment and my appreciation for their focus on privacy.
Yep, Apple's method makes sense. If they let it, any app can request access without needing a real need, and users will agree even if it doesn't actually require it—something we see on Android too. Essentially, Apple is trusting itself completely. It boils down to how far you draw the privacy line. They’ve decided messages should be completely inaccessible to others. I understand their stance, though it’s frustrating when you want features outside their ecosystem. On the other hand, you’re protecting your personal data more effectively.
Sure thing. I’m evaluating the advantages and disadvantages. Totally get their point of view. I just chatted with a friend last night about it over dinner. He didn’t grasp why I’m so tech-savvy, yet still use an iPhone. After a while explaining the costs and perks—like how I risk losing my phone more than my computer—I saw he understood. Whatever that means! Lol, since I watched *The Social Dilemma*, I’ve already turned off all notifications.
