This really isnt a new post, I remember when I did my first build, all I worried about for the memory was the number of pins, voltage, size in Gig..etc. This compatibility stuff is very confusing! But the more tech sites I read, its very common. No POST, No Display

Compatibility problems existed since the early 90s. You mentioned various chip types—parity, no parity, double-sided, single-sided, registered, non-registered, ECC. Please share details about your system and whether your motherboard supports a flashed BIOS for the new CPU.
