I purchased a new SSD and wanted advice on installing Windows while keeping the rest of your drive intact. Many people mentioned it’s tricky because you can’t simply remove Windows from it, and some files are linked together with other data. You’d like to keep everything else on the HDD for storage, while making the SSD hold only games and applications.

Join the discussions! If you're trying to avoid booting, remove the EFI, recovery disk, and then navigate to the drive (label it DSmile. Wipe everything except the Users folder. After that, you'll have to reinstall software, but your data should remain intact.

It’s best to save all relevant files elsewhere, clear the HDD, and then return them to the storage device.

Is there a video on this because if I do this I don't want to mess up anything and I am bad with following words on topics I don't know much of.

I haven't installed the SSD but it does have enough space to hold the files on there. Would I have to do some type of complicated way of copying or do I just right click, hit copy and paste it onto the SSD?

Just clicked right-click, that's what I did when I purchased a new HDD for my games. Mapped it to C:.

Yes, you can keep the same naming convention. After copying, rename the drive to C for the new SSD and set the HDD to E.

Specify your boot drive letter or else the system may encounter problems.
