Electrical Problem with PC Audio?
Hello. There’s an unusual problem affecting my headphones while they’re connected to my PC. Without warning, the right ear-cup audio automatically lowers until it becomes muted. It remains in this state for a short time before resuming, sometimes repeating the issue. This happens regardless of whether I connect them through the ifi Zen v2 DAC AMP or directly into the front or rear audio jacks on my PC.
If I plug the headphones into my PC, they stop functioning and stay affected for a while on any device I try. However, after giving them a rest, they work again when connected to other devices, except my own PC. My friends use USB headphones that are mostly fine, though they sometimes produce a faint static-like sound. I’ve also tried various IEMs using both the front and back jacks on my PC, which all seem to work properly.
I’ve attempted several fixes: moving the wire and jack around, uninstalling and reinstalling the DAC AMP USB driver and firmware (including testing without any driver), adjusting Windows sound settings like balancing levels and disabling enhancements, trying different USB ports on my PC, installing a new Windows version, cleaning the headphone connector, unplugging everything for 10 minutes, testing with nothing plugged in, and using another DAC AMP.
I agree you're onto something. After shaping the wire in specific spots, I notice some minor cracking. It might be the right moment to install the detachable cable mod.
