EGPU fails to install on Ubuntu with Dell XPS 15 9510
Hello everyone, I'm facing some issues getting my external 3070 to function on Ubuntu with my XPS 15. When I connect it via the EGPU, the screen goes black and shows no output. If I plug it in later, Ubuntu boots up and identifies the GPU but doesn't engage properly. I think the dedicated 3050ti inside the laptop might be interfering, though I'm not sure. A reboot seems necessary, but it doesn’t work. Please help—I’m unsure if hotplugging is an option. Thanks for any advice.
Specs: Dell XPS 15 9510, Intel i7 11800H, 16GB RAM, RTX 3050ti (internal), RTX 3070 in Lenovo Booststation enclosure.
Thunderbolt seems to function properly as the booststation appears authorized in the Thunderbolt menu within settings, and the 3070 displays this when I run lspci. I also verified via Bolt that it shows a 40Gb/s transfer rate for both sending and receiving.
