Edgerouter speed issues
Edgerouter speed issues
Hi, I've noticed my Edge Router 4 has been slowing down lately. Since November, I've had consistent 400/25 speeds online, but on my local LAN it drops to 250/10. After resetting the router, it performed well until this week. I was using Smart QOS for promised speeds, but turned it off when the problem started. Now I'm getting around 144/25. I switched the router from LAN 1 to LAN 2 to check if a bad LAN port was the cause, but only minor improvements have been seen so far. Some websites are refusing to load due to the issue. I've shared this on Unifis' community page for help.
There are two ends to the link. It may be necessary to verify each node in the LAN. Speed is limited by the slowest component.
I think it might not be the router. It could be the router, the PC, or even furniture and walls affecting the WiFi signal. LANs become tricky fast. If it’s the router, I don’t have much info. Usually you ping them using the device’s IP address.
I focused on the router since all the LAN cabling is CAT 6 and brand new. I first installed this setup in November, and if there had been a problem with the cables, I’d have noticed it sooner. I also connected my PC directly to the LAN and observed the same performance issues, suggesting the switch wasn’t the cause after six months. Additionally, when I linked into the modem, I received full speeds of 400/25, but once the router was added, every device’s network speed dropped below 400/25—even with QOS enabled, it should have been around 340/22. The connection is significantly slower than expected, hovering between 150-200.
Your offloading feature is turned off and depends on the CPU for all tasks. The ERL isn’t performing well there, but using offloading to the ASIC should improve speed.
