Edge fails to refocus properly after using Alt+Tab while watching fullscreen material.
Hey everyone. I shared my experience on Reddit earlier, but after waiting an hour without any response, I thought I had the most reliable post. It's been quite some time since I've updated here, so please give me credit if my manners are off. I checked the troubleshooting steps to make sure I didn't miss anything.
My setup:
Hardware: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (latest update)
Graphics: EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 (current drivers)
RAM: 2x16GB Crucial Ballistic 3200MHz
CPU: AMD R9 5950X
OS: Microsoft Edge 114.0.1823.67 (64-bit)
Extensions I use: Ublock Origin, Reddit Enhancement Suite & Bitwarden – all disabled works fine.
The problem occurs when viewing fullscreen content in Edge. If I press Alt+Tab away from the window and come back, the media won't respond to controls like play/pause or fast-forward. I have to click manually to bring it back to focus. When I switch tabs again, the issue returns.
This doesn’t happen in Mozilla Firefox, which is reassuring. I recently removed the latest Cumulative Update preview from June 28th, but that didn’t fix it.
Is this a bug specific to Microsoft Edge that needs fixing? Are others facing the same issue?
Ugh, I thought it might help if someone else confirmed the problem too, but it looks like it could be my own issue.
