after a week without use, powering up the pc causes it to freeze at the gigabyte logo with keybinds beneath for BIOS access (maximum wait time was 5 minutes before restart). Pressing del and other bios shortcuts yields no effect, even when repeatedly pressed. The vga light remains illuminated. Attempted fixes included several restarts at various times, unplugging the pc and holding the power button for 10 seconds while clearing CMOS by pressing the clear button for 10 seconds, and shorting the CMOS sticks for 10 seconds. Removing the entire GPU and connecting the monitor directly to the motherboard also resolved the problem—no gigabyte logo or vga light appeared. I also unplugged and re-plugged the 24-pin connector and 4-pin CPU connector, blew air around to clear dust, and ensured all cables were securely seated, including the RAM. The solution that worked involved replacing an old SSD (over 7 years old) which had been disconnected from the motherboard; the issue disappeared once it was removed, allowing normal operation with other disks. I believe the old SSD contained data the motherboard/CPU needed, but it had failed during the week before the PC was powered on—possibly due to an outdated Windows installation and a newer SSD now installed.
