Sorry for the confusing title, it's difficult to fully explain what's happening without going into detail. I wasn't sure if this should be placed in Computer Peripherals or Consumer Electronics, so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong forum. If a mod wants to move or delete this post, that's completely okay. When I first plugged in my earbuds, the sound was a bit strange but functional. After unplugging and reinserting them, they stopped working entirely. Once I plugged them back in again, my computer didn't recognize them at all, and they only worked once after a restart. I believe this is due to a driver issue, but I've searched everywhere and found nothing useful. I know the earbuds work elsewhere, so it seems the problem lies with my computer. I was using the same model before on the same machine without any issues, which makes it even more puzzling. I'm hoping someone can help me avoid having to restart my computer every time I want to use them.

There might be an issue with the metal connection on the jack, which would suggest the need for new headphones. Could this "tin-y" effect occur in any other devices you plan to use the headphones on? The system identifies the problem through its software and hardware, so it doesn't seem to originate from the laptop. I think your concern lies with the headphones' hardware. Still, it's possible that updating your audio drivers could resolve the issue if the problem persists across other devices.

The headphones function perfectly with my phone, which is the sole device I can test them on. I still believe it might not be the headphones themselves. I plan to try them on another device I can locate for confirmation.

Yeah, the auto detection feature some computers have was always something I considered faulty. If they still function on another device, I’d look for ways to bypass or disable those features that try to auto detect headphone connections as a temporary fix to get them working again. Besides that, I’m confused about what it could be.
