According to the article, you'll only be able to connect to a server from EA after launch. This is disappointing for many gamers in Southern Africa since we previously could rent Battlefield servers with low latency. With this change, staying outside the US or Europe will result in high ping times and poor performance. I stopped my pre-orders because I don’t tolerate 200 ms lags or being forced into a region when it’s not available. This isn’t a good decision by EA if they insist on hosting servers themselves.

They certainly offer servers from various locations globally. However, I still think it's frustrating not having a dedicated server or a custom one.

We can only rent a server through EA since we know they don’t have any hardware in Africa. The nearest options are in Europe, which means we’ll face a 200ms delay. Previously, servers were in Johannesburg and Cape Town, so latency for titles like BF3 and BF4 in Windhoek was around 60 to 80 ms.

Starting pre-orders is a mistake, so thank you for skipping yours. Next, hold off until the game becomes available. EA might outsource server hosting from a location in SA or elsewhere they don’t own servers. But before we panic, let’s avoid chaos and give them a fair shot.

Certainly a unique approach. I'll keep an eye on things and sincerely wish they secure server resources. Thanks for offering another viewpoint.

They’re sure this will come soon after the first launch. Or perhaps they’ve finally committed to using genuine servers instead of temporary setups.

About a month has passed and updates are coming slowly, piece by piece, yet nothing substantial. It still seems we won’t have servers, though I remain optimistic. I wouldn’t purchase this game unless there are local options available; otherwise, I’d save my money elsewhere.

Yes there is unlike what people think wild animals dont walk in the streets and we do not stay in mud huts. I stay in Namibia and we actually have high speed internet
