I need to prepare the drive with this command: cryptsetup --verbose --verify-passphrase luksFormat /dev/sd b 3. But it warns I can't format a drive that's already in use. What alternative should I try?
I managed most of the steps but remain unclear. At the end it mentions a persistent volume marked unrecognized, which was mine. Still, I don’t understand how persistence works. If I switch the wallpaper or connect to a Wi-Fi network, it resets on restart. I can boot into encryption mode with persistence enabled. It seems related to that section: the persistence files don’t need to be in the root of the E2B drive. You can place them anywhere on the drive and update the path in the .mnu file—like copying the file to the same folder as the .mnu and using this line in the .mnu: set PERS=$HOME$/kali64-rw. It’s a bit confusing, and searching doesn’t provide much help since there’s limited info on Kali encryption persistence with E2B.
