It's complimentary indefinitely as long as you upgrade within a year. You won't need to convert all your storage devices.

You were told about the limitations of an older Windows version and the need for WDDM 2.0, which Windows 7 lacks. This isn't a mistake from Microsoft; the graphics card maker simply didn’t support it back then.

You’re frustrated with the current setup and want maximum flexibility. You can upgrade anytime without formatting any drives, including your operating system drive.

How reliable it is? People are talking about data mining techniques M$ is attempting to implement in Windows 10.

Currently, it's not very, but it's only recently launched. And unlike MS on W7, Linux distributions might be a better choice if you're concerned.

I find it hard to grasp why everyone is upset. Sure, Windows 7 is popular, but if they don’t update their software support, it’ll be hard for people to stick with it. Once official help stops (for Windows 7), it might become the new version of XP. DX12 relies on a more recent driver setup, and versions 8-8.1 also lack DX12 compatibility. Upgrading isn’t mandatory, but if you need newer features, you’ll have to use the latest system. Windows 7 feels outdated by today’s standards—really surprising considering how long it’s been around!

You might face some concerns about installing W10, but it shouldn't cause major problems. Most games and apps should function normally. You won’t need to reformat your drive, which eases the process. Since you haven’t followed the hype closely, you’re likely in a safer spot. Your Windows 7 Pro setup should carry over to Windows 10, though the upgrade icon has disappeared recently—check if you’re still eligible.
