DX12 & multi-GPU across vendors
DX12 & multi-GPU across vendors
I've seen discussions about whether the DX12 API supports multiple GPU vendors on Windows 10. There are no clear videos confirming it, but some users report success with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel GPUs working together. It seems to be a possibility, though testing is recommended.
It needs help from a driver, and I think AMD or NVIDIA won’t provide any assistance for CF/SLI in the upcoming DX12 update. The latest patch includes support from Singularity.
Ashes of Singularity carried out the implementation. Various tests and benchmarks were conducted at http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/216880...de-by-side
It's not feasible for the primary time. Nvidia and AMD wouldn't agree to collaborate.
By nature it needs no driver assistance. It operates clearly without any driver involvement, and the methods or actions Nvidia might take remain unclear—possibly the only solution is to check when the competing GPU is connected and then proceed decisively. Still, Antec recently evaluated this technology using a version of Ashes of Singularity, and the outcomes were highly positive. The discussion in tech news was particularly lively on Monday. http://www.anandtech.com/show/9740/direc...pu-preview
I understand... I made changes to clarify it, though the driver point I mentioned was discussed earlier, making it a bit old.
