Two dual units aren't sufficient to form a full quad. Your setup will continue operating in dual-channel mode. Quad support is only available with ThreadRipper.

What processor are you using? Even with a Ryzen 3, it wouldn't justify more than 10-20 dollars. Yes, it does affect performance slightly.

3700x on Amazon lists the 3600 dual kit for £50 more, though an alternative site offers a much better deal. The recommended model at scan.co.uk is priced lower and claims it's optimized, though I believe it's just Corsair tuning. Updated April 14, 2020 by StepDice.
