I'm considering upgrading my RAM and weighing 2×16GB versus 4×8GB options. I prefer filling all slots but notice the higher latency in the 8GB kits. Do dual and quad channel memory really improve performance compared to single-channel setups?

AMD processors tend to favor 2x configurations rather than 4x setups, performing more efficiently with them. I suggest opting for a 2x16 package instead of a 4x8 for better results.

It seems your system might not handle quad-channel support well, possibly due to a motherboard limitation. This would mean the CPU processes data in pairs per channel, which is still dual-channel. However, adding more memory can strain the controller and may reduce performance gains. Choosing higher-density DIMMs could be a better path forward.
