I've been purchasing quad channel kits without realizing my CPU only supports dual channel memory. I thought it would automatically run all four sticks in dual channel mode. I watched some videos suggesting quad channel offers about a 10% boost under heavy CPU loads in games. I'm trying to decide between a 2x16 and a 4x8 setup.

I will receive a 2x16GB unit. You can expand it later if necessary.

Certainly, having 64GB of RAM for gaming might be excessive.

You're unaware of your future requirements. It's pleasant to have simpler, smaller options available.

I agree with the idea of starting with 2 sticks and considering upgrades later.

Checking the RAM specifications: CPU type, brand, and model. Certain setups may not function reliably.

You mentioned seeing a video about faster performance with multiple RAM modules, not necessarily quad channel. Are you wondering if using four modules would be better than two, and whether a CPU that supports quad channel is needed for that?
