You have an 8GB soldered laptop with a SODIMM slot that also supports 8GB RAM. Upgrading the slot to 16 or 32GB is possible, but it may impact performance and could affect dual-channel operation. Check compatibility and consider whether higher capacity will meet your needs without causing issues.

You'll transition into a mixed memory setup for better speed (commonly called flex mode). The initial 16GB will run in dual channels, maintaining normal performance, while the remaining 8GB or 24GB will operate in single channel. This offers a clear performance boost—either you stay within the 16GB limit with consistent speed, or you exceed it and get an infinite improvement since you won't rely on the page file or face memory issues.

You'll receive the initial 16GB using dual-channel (with 8 soldered and 8 from the dimming) and any extra space will operate in single-channel mode. Verify your laptop's specifications to ensure it can handle the planned memory size. Some devices stop at 32GB and won't start beyond that. I had a model limited to 8GB.
