Hello, your new PC setup is being considered for dual booting Windows and OS X Yosemite. Let me check the details. If it doesn't support both, I'll explain why. You can find more info here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Ms2ZmG

Uncertain about whether it could work with OS X. Never seen dual booting those two systems before—I believe macOS doesn’t allow separate partitions. It usually needs a full hard drive.

Looking into methods for constructing a hackintosh to run OS X is common. Many prefer dual-booting while initially installing necessary Apple drivers on hardware components.

Reminder, X99 isn't available for support unless you participate in beta testing. Not advised. http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-deskt...-10-a.html

You can set up OS X alongside another operating system on the same storage device, executing the instructions listed for a 240GB SSD.

Hey there! So, what’s your PC intended for? Are you into photo/video editing? Gaming? If it’s for editing, it’s a solid setup, but I’d suggest upgrading to an i7-4790K with a Z97 chipset to avoid compatibility problems. You’ll also save some money. For gaming, definitely downgrade to an i5-4790K paired with a GTX 980. Stick with NVIDIA GPUs as AMD support isn’t quite as strong. It’s hard to find good results even with AMD models like the R9 390X or R9 Fury on OSX—though the R9 290X might work, it’s uncertain. The AMD R9 290X is possible under OSX but feels risky. NVIDIA is the clear winner here. For an OSX setup, consider getting a Gigabyte motherboard—it usually performs best. If you’re planning to play games, build a rig with a PCPartPicker list and price breakdown: CPU, cooler, board, RAM, storage, graphics card, case, and power supply. All costs should total around $1,331. You can adjust the budget based on your needs. Make sure your SATA controller is set to AHCI, as OSX often struggles with hardware RAID. Overall, prioritize your GPU—aim for at least half of your budget on it. If you’re not gaming, focus on a more efficient build for editing tasks.
