DS1 or DS2
DS1 or DS2
You're aware by now. No PC Gamer would tolerate sloppy F@$# from software providers.
You haven't given a clear response yet. That's why I inquired. I really liked both games, and I still play DS2 often.
Playing on a pic without a $20 game pad seems off. Everyone knows some games need a controller. I own a DS1 and it works great with one.
I acknowledge these concerns are valid. Still, I think they’ve been exaggerated beyond what they deserve. The core strengths of the game remain impressive, surpassing these concerns. That’s the takeaway; many visual problems can be resolved (especially with DS1). DS2 functions well as intended. The game was never built for cutting-edge graphics or ultra-high-resolution textures. Its purpose is to provide a unique, challenging experience. Regarding the control issues (not directed at you), I just find it amusing how some fans insist on playing only with kb+m. It’s not about superiority—it’s about personal preference. Anyone who insists on using kb+m for every title feels like a console player stuck with only a controller. It’s the same as forcing a PC gamer to rely solely on a gamepad. The appeal of PC gaming lies in the variety of controllers and peripherals available. Why not embrace that and use a gamepad instead? Cheap Xbox360 clones make playing these games much more fun. Moving on, some titles are simply optimized for their intended controllers. For racing sims, use proper wheels and pedals. For FPS games, kb+m is ideal. For DS or similar titles, a gamepad works best. Instead of complaining about poor controls for kb+m on DS, test a basic controller first. You might discover a better fit. (Sorry, but we can’t let that happen.) I’m realizing more that some PC players act like they’re superior or overly critical. If you only care about performance metrics, textures, UI scaling, and compatibility, you’re missing the essence of these kinds of games.
Before DS2 was released, I purchased DS1 to share with friends. They all praised using a gamepad controller. I bought a budget option and never felt any regret. Most players who enjoyed the title would definitely suggest a controller. Being firm about kb+m, dismissing it as poor quality seems overly narrow-minded. If you truly dislike controllers, then the DS line isn’t the right fit for you. Now I use an Xbox One controller with a wireless adapter, and it functions perfectly for gaming. It was definitely worth the effort. PC gaming offers flexibility—why limit yourself to just one peripheral when you have the tools at your disposal? I understand they didn’t optimize the game for all controller types, but the key is finding a setup that works best for you.
I meant to convey something slightly different from what I said. I grasp your point and share some agreement. There are still certain games that perform better with specific control methods, regardless of platform limitations. For FPS titles, kb+m offers superior control, though many are released with gamepad-only support on consoles. If consoles fully embraced kb+m like PC does with gamepads, more players might switch to that input method. Right now, consoles only support one controller type, whereas PC accommodates various peripherals. It seems the real concern isn’t just about support—it’s about how significant these limitations are compared to what users expect.
Are you suggesting against supporting rockstar due to their past behavior and the fact that the game is completely unplayable without a controller? You also mention you can adjust settings easily, like changing the mouse position to exit the settings.
