Hey there! I've been dealing with a strange issue lately that's been giving me trouble. My system sometimes freezes unexpectedly, even when idle, or it might work smoothly for long stretches. When it crashes, I notice two specific warnings and errors pop up each time. Usually it shows event 4101 with the message about the display driver stopping, and occasionally event 13 with another exception. Recently, while working in Blender, my rendering process crashed, and I received the error "Illegal address in CUDA queue copy_from_device." Also, when Windows restarts, it sometimes creates a minidump file, which I've attached for reference. At first, I thought the problem might be linked to using an experimental BIOS on my MSI B350 Tomahawk with a R7 5800x, but after switching to a different board (MSI B550 Tomahawk), it kept happening. The issue seems to persist even though I've updated drivers via DDU to versions 511.79 and 512.15 without fixing it. I'm still trying to figure out what's causing these inconsistencies. My setup includes a Ryzen 7 5800X with 2x16GB RAM at 3200MHz, running CL16 Trident Z RGB on an MSI B550 Tomahawk ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080 Ti Gaming. The images appear to be caused by GPU artifacts. Is your GPU running any overclocking?
Neither the CPU nor the GPU received any overclocking. I also tried setting MSI Afterburner and reducing the power limit to 75%, but it had no impact.
