After configuring OPNsense and learning about port-forwarding, I encountered an unexpected issue. It seems there might be a problem with my firewall settings inside OPNsense or even within my operating system itself—most of my configurations are standard defaults. When I tried to host a Minecraft server through the router, everything worked fine on my gaming PC and hosting machine. However, when I attempted to play Minecraft at the same time as hosting, my internet connection suddenly dropped. Almost right after logging in, my PC restarted completely. Restarting it again didn’t help; the ethernet driver would turn off and back on automatically in Device Manager. A full restart caused my PC to crash, likely due to the underlying issue. Even trying to disable and re-enable the ethernet driver resulted in Device Manager crashing. Despite being up-to-date with ASUS updates and having a solid internet connection, my system is struggling. My hardware appears fine, and I have a 1200MB/s connection. I own an ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E gaming motherboard, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and an Intel i7-12700k at 3.6GHz. In my view, these specs should easily support Minecraft hosting and streaming. What should I do next? Any driver updates or troubleshooting steps I haven’t tried yet? I’m open to suggestions.
