Driver issue during system upgrade.
Driver issue during system upgrade.
Hello, I've recently upgraded my CPU and Motherboard and Every time I open a new application or just general use like the search function from windows, the screen freezes with the mouse still being able to move, and after a while (approx 5 seconds), goes black, and after a further 1-2 seconds recognises displayport and turns back to life with a new AMD Window saying the graphics card driver has timed out. The AMD Software also seems to be crashing. New specs: Ryzen 7 5800x (2 days new) B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 (With latest bios) (2 days new) Asus RX 6600 (1 year old) G Skill Ripjaws 2666 MHz 2x8Gb (2 years old) Corsair RM 650 PSU (1 year old) Windows 11 x64 Latest Sabrent 1TB NVME boot drive (6 months old) Whats been swapped: Old CPU - i5-7400 Old motherboard - Asus Prime B250-M Plus List of things I have tried unsuccessfully: System File checker Reinstalling windows (both 10 x64 and 11 x64 have the same issue) Checking physical connections. Downloading all extra chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer. Using older versions of the GPU drivers None of these have so far worked for me. Interestingly, running MemTest86, I get 8000+ errors during test #6 for my memory. I hope I have provided enough information, I hope a solution isn't to buy new RAM as I don't have funds at the current moment. If it is a known issue, please link me to any solutions so I can attempt possible fixes.
You switched from Intel to AMD, which was a major shift. AMD's current BIOS tends to be more frequent updates, and their hardware often demands stricter memory configurations. With Zen 1, it seemed you needed to stick closely to the QVL, but as Ryzen advanced, that became less critical. Zen 3 might have brought back a more traditional approach.
