Why does your Windows 10 crash after installing the Microsoft WDDM 1.1 driver?
I used a cab file for installation and it functioned briefly before freezing, requiring a restart by holding the power button. Afterward, Windows booted through the Microsoft basic display adapter.

This issue occurred on an old HP pro 3010 MT. I recall it originally had Windows 7 Ultimate with flawless drivers. I wish I could go back to that era but unfortunately damaged my Windows setup.
Any advice for resolving the driver problem?

The phrase "can file" seems unclear or possibly a typo. It might refer to a USB flash drive or SD card file. Clarify if you meant a specific storage device type.
It's unlikely to be well-supported if the computer is quite old, especially with Windows 10.
You might want to consider a more affordable build if your current setup is outdated.

@maikutech suggested proceeding with a low-budget build, but even if itâs salvaged, failure is likely and youâd have to start from scratch again.
It's been a long time since things have changed, especially with the current preference for Vista/Win 7. I used to have GMA X4500HD with an Intel G45 chipset in Windows 10 around build 1511. It performed excellently. However, after several updates, the same driver stopped functioning and eventually failed completely when I tried dual-booting to Windows 7-64. Only on a Win 7-32 setup did it work fine, but not on Windows 10-64. So I upgraded to a used GT710 for a better experience.
The GMA X4500 IGP with a G41 chipset was another case. It worked perfectly in Windows 10-64 and Windows 7-32, but became very unstable in Windows 7-64 using the latest drivers. Interestingly, these two IGPs are quite similarâthey share the same 800MHz core clocksâand the only difference is that the HD version offers better H.264 hardware acceleration, allowing it to decode 1080p Blu-Ray content. Despite this, their driver compatibility varied significantly.
The IGP in G43 has the same device ID as G45 (2E22), but behaves like a GMA X4500 like G41 (2E32), not a GMA X4500HD. Yet it uses the same driver as the HD version. Using this on a laptop would be challenging, but on a desktop you could easily switch to a more affordable GPU. Most people donât want a GPU slower than todayâs IGs, so used options are cheap, though theyâre still available at very high prices (I wouldnât recommend it, but some models like the GT210 or HD5450 do).
Itâs worth noting that any Windows fix is temporary, as support for Windows 10 ends in five months. The last version of Windows 11 compatible with that hardware is 23H2, which reaches end-of-life just one month later.
Instead of investing in a cheap GPU, why not explore a Linux distribution with a compatible Mesa driver?
