Drive on an NVMe port in a M.2 slot?
I connected my M.2 Drevo SSD to the NVME X4 slot on the E5 2689 motherboard, but it wasn’t recognized. Experts suggest the issue might be that the drive uses SATA instead of PCIe. You could try using a PCIe adapter or converter to make the connection work.
essentially m.2 supports both SATA and NVMe connections, and it usually chooses SATA unless your BIOS specifies PCIe. If PCIe isn't available, you lose the NVMe performance, but it functions just like a regular SATA drive.
