The issue is that your C drive has been gradually getting full over the past few months, but no new files have been added. All downloads, videos, etc., have been transferred to a 1TB HDD, leaving only the OS and programs on the main drive. When checking the drive properties—including hidden files—it shows just 50.4GB, while Windows displays 95GB in the "This PC" section. I could perform a fresh installation of Windows, but I’d prefer not to if possible. Attached are two screenshots highlighting the significant discrepancy.

Install WinDirStat on the C drive to visualize disk usage. Also, clear the Recycle Bin if needed.

In the search bar on the taskbar, type "disk cleanup" and right-click when it appears. Select "Run as administrator" to view all available categories for cleanup. I'm unsure of your Windows version, but proceed with caution—especially with the downloads folder, which may also be included (release 1903). The other categories are generally safe to check. The Windows Bt and WS folders are recommended for deletion during disk cleanup.

I stored the entire 6GB of update files, yet there is still around 40GB missing.

Have you already performed a disk cleanup? If yes, remove the Windows and Windows Explorer folders.

You completed the task but only saved 6GB. The BT and WS folders remained small, around a few hundred KB.

Far away, the Linux community is joking about using windirstat to get a good look at what's consuming space. It seems like some older Windows versions, temp files, and other things Windows tends to mess up.
