DRAM red light activated, no POST detected, no illumination on CPU cooler or motherboard (except red light)
Hey! I assembled my PC roughly two weeks back, and around four days prior I installed an older generation GPU, added fan splitters, and then left the system idle for a day. When I returned and powered it up, the RGB on one RAM stick wasn’t activating, so I had to restart. Since it didn’t restart, I forced a shutdown.
Later, the CPU fan and motherboard lights wouldn’t turn off, so I turned them off and on again. Eventually, unplugging the motherboard while it was powered down caused them to shut down.
It’s not booting up at all. I checked the cables on the PSU, swapped RAM sticks, and changed the RAM slots from A1/B1 to A2/B2. I’m planning to try removing the GPU, starting with a single RAM stick, and slightly unscrewing the CPU since some users reported similar issues.
Currently, all fans are working, the RGB lights are functioning, and both the CPU fan and GPU fan are spinning. The only working indicator on the motherboard is the DRAM red light, and there’s no beeping.
I followed the instructions carefully, confirming everything was set correctly beforehand. My build details are as follows:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz 8-Core
- CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin King SE ARGB 66.17 CFM
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ICE ATX AM5
- Memory: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
- Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
- Video Card: MSI GTX 1060 6 GB
- Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO ATX Mid Tower
- Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W, 80+ Gold Certified
- Case Fan: Corsair iCUE SP RGB ELITE 47.73 CFM (3-pack)
- Additional: Several fans listed in the specs.
When the case is positioned on its side, ease the pressure from the cooler so it only rests on the CPU's IHS. Observe if this improves your system's POST. Inspect the CPU socket for any bent or broken pins.
The RAM was in the correct slots as well, but I switched them to the other ones. I made an error in my post because I flipped my PC case, so the window was on the right (the motherboard was upside down)
