DRAM Light
DRAM Light
I returned from work today and the new setup seemed off. It stayed on but didn’t respond, no screen visible and only the RAM LEDs lit up except for the RAM indicator. The DRAM LED was pulsing. I tried to restart it and it came back, but still behaved strangely. The mouse LEDs were behaving erratically and couldn’t be fixed through software (it worked on the previous system it came from). When I restarted the whole system, the RAM LED started flashing again—so I had to disconnect the power cord and reconnect to get it to boot. The system hasn’t been overclocked, and the EXPO RAM profile was active without issues. I’ve tested each RAM stick individually in its slot and got the same results. The HWM showed more than 2 volts on one core. It seems my motherboard might be faulty, but I wanted to confirm with Ryzen 7700x Gigabyte B650M Arous Elite AX AM5 LGA 1718 Samsung 980 PRO M.2 2280 1TB G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series AMD EXPO 32GB (2 x 16) DDR5 6000 Enermax LIQMAX III 360 AIO (2) 6TB Western Digital Gold HDD.
HWM struggles to interpret AMD system details, making those results likely incorrect. Consider using HWINFO64 or Ryzen Master for accurate data. I'd lean toward suspecting a BIOS problem rather than anything else. Are you using the newest version or have you tried several? AMD frequently releases updates that affect memory support, especially on AM4 chips—some revisions may prevent 3600 CL14 from booting while others do fine at higher speeds. Testing a few versions could help identify which works best.
