DRAM issue with Rog Strix x370-f mobo connection
When the system isn't powered on for a long time (not during sleep), it tries to post. The yellow display stays active about 90% of the time and remains on the splash screen. Often, removing one stick of RAM helps again. If posting still fails, unplugging and plugging back in usually resolves it. Sometimes a full BIOS reset is needed. This issue only appears after shutdowns. Many users with Zen 1 boards have reported similar problems, but I don’t have a clear solution. Any advice would be appreciated. I’m planning to upgrade to a 5800X because prices are lower. RAM slots and sticks have been tested; the CPU is AMD 1600X (Zen 1), memory uses Corsair Vengeance 32GB at 3200MHz, and the graphics card is 3600.
Do you have another RAM unit available to test? It could be a faulty RAM module. Additionally, consider inspecting the CPU mount—even though it's pinned, there might still be a problem there.
I've already attempted that. These RAM modules are the ones I purchased in the hope of resolving the problem. I'll examine the CPU mounting next.
I've made some advancements. Others can rely on this guidance. I was advised to check ProcODT termination resistance for DRAM. Watching the video clarified most overclocking configurations in AMD mobos. I adjusted ProcODT to 60 ohms and set Power Down to manual instead of auto. I'm uncertain which change worked best, but now restarting after shutting down (PSU still connected) lets me reboot each time without getting a DRAM error. When I power off the PSU for at least a minute, I experience several restarts—possibly memory training—leading eventually to Safe Mode. The DRAM frequency has been reset from 3200mhz to 2133mhz. Problems remain, but it's significantly improved.
