DRAM indicator on MOBO device
We added the lian li galahad ii trinity cooling and now the DRAM starts glowing yellow. The PC won’t boot, we tried clearing CMOS, changed the RAM from slot 1 to slot 2, and booted on just one stick but it still doesn’t work. Could it be something other than RAM? Or is it just slow to read the RAM? (The light stays on without blinking.)
PC specs: CPU – AMD 5800X, GPU – MSI RTX 3090, RAM – Vengeance 2x16GB DDR4 3600MHz, Motherboard – ASUS TUF GAMING X570, PSU – Gigabyte 850W.
Storage – 1TB M.2 drive, fans – Lian li SL120 infinity. Running on Windows 11 with Odyssey G9 Neo and two 27-inch monitors.
When the cooler doesn't boot or causes RAM issues, the problem is often related to mounting. It's unclear how simple it is to adjust or over-tighten the cooler. Note: Many boards require RAM in the second slot (next to the CPU) and might not work with other settings.
I didn't mention the previous AIO had a different mount, and we had to reattach it to the AM4 brackets to fit the new pump. I'm unsure if he tightened the bracket too much since we're still talking on Discord and can't check the screws directly. I told him to hand-tighten only, not to force it. It was just a test—maybe it will boot in channel 2 because it didn’t work in channel 1.
the main concern is whether it relates to a usb splitter or argb splitter we had to install since the motherboard can't handle that many connections for whatever reason. lian li uses controllers for everything—like the strimer cables, uni fans, and the aio—and it's using three controllers properly. we inspected each cable on the device.
The Q-LEDs are not really error lights. They tell you where in POST it's getting stuck. The component it gets stuck on is what you check first, but it doesn't have to mean that it's the problematic component. I would remove the CPU and check the CPU pins (Feel free to post a picture as well). If they look fine, re-seat it and be careful not over tightening the AIO and try again.
Many do, some don't, I've seen it myself. Some manuals are also very clear that you must use slot 2 with one stick. The OP might as well do what the manual says when they don't know what's wrong. I suppose it is possible if the board is overloaded, or there's some kind of short, but the only way to test that is to disconnect everything and the passive cooling of an AIO isn't great.
Which ones? They shouldn't face any problems with various slots, since memory layout is designed this way—being stuck in any slot still allows a successful boot. The manuals mentioning restrictions likely mean fewer conflicts with DOCP/XMP features.
We attempted to disconnect certain components, but it didn't resolve the issue or make any changes.
